American Ring is an 84-minute documentary by Stefano Casertano that enters the world of independent wrestling in Dayton, Ohio.
Set in the working-class Midwest, the film portrays wrestling as a raw form of popular theatre: a place where performance, sacrifice and the search for the American Dream collide.
Presented in competition at the PerSo – Perugia Social Film Festival, American Ring is both the portrait of a subculture and a powerful reflection on contemporary America.
