Il Turco in Italia

In Naples, a poet is in search of inspiration for his next work: “I have to write a comic opera, but I can’t find the subject.” With this tone, suspended between dream and reality, begins the immersive scenography created by Daring House for Il Turco in Italia by Gioachino Rossini, a production by the AsLiCo theatres (Teatro Fraschini di Pavia, Teatro Ponchielli di Cremona, and Teatro Sociale di Como).

The staging unfolds like a living paper theater, where the walls become pages from the poet Prosdocimo’s notebook: a continuous flow of notes, sketches, and visions. Animated ink drawings in 3D and watercolor textures blend together to evoke poetic glimpses of Naples, while the opera’s characters – Don Geronio, Selim the Turk, and Donna Fiorilla – come to life in a fluid and surprising visual narrative.

The work stands out for its seamless integration of theatre and digital technologies, offering an immersive experience that goes beyond the boundaries of traditional stage design.
